This is why he has been adamant about avoiding close contacts and has disagreed with the man who hired him to be in charge of the COVID 19 pandemic in the USA.
Dr. Anthony Stephen Fauci was born on December 24, 1940 in New York City, NY to to Stephen A. Fauci and Eugenia Abys Fauci, owners of a pharmacy. His father was a Columbia University–educated pharmacist, his mother and sister Denise worked the register, and Fauci delivered prescriptions. The pharmacy was located in the Dyker Heights section of Brooklyn, directly beneath the family apartment, previously in the Bensonhurst neighborhood.
Fauci's paternal grandparents, Antonino Fauci and Calogera Guardino, were from Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicilia, Italy .
Fauci is a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force established in late January 2020, under President Trump, to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. He became a "de facto" public health spokesperson for the office of the president during the pandemic and a strong advocate for ongoing social distancing efforts in the United States. His maternal grandmother, Raffaella Trematerra, from Naples, Italy, was a seamstress. His maternal grandfather, Giovanni Abys, was born in Switzerland and was an artist, noted for landscape and portrait painting, magazine illustrations (Italy) as well as graphic design for commercial labels, including olive oil cans. His grandparents emigrated from Italy to the United States in the late 19th century. Fauci grew up Catholic, but now considers himself a humanist.
Fauci attended the College of the Holy Cross, graduating in 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in classics with a pre-med track. Fauci then attended medical school at Cornell University Medical College where he graduated first in his class with a Doctor of Medicine in 1966. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, now known as New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine. In 1968, Fauci joined the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a clinical associate in the Laboratory of Clinical Investigation (LCI) at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He's an immunologist.
Now the USA's leading immunologist, Anthony S. Fauci, M.D., was appointed Director of NIAID in 1984. In March, he predicted that the infection fatality rate would likely be close to 1%, which was ten times more severe than the 0.1% reported rate for seasonal flu. On March 29, 2020, Fauci argued for the extension of the initial 15-day self-isolation guidelines, issued by the executive office, to at least until the end of April 2020. In mid-April, Fauci stated that if the administration had "started mitigation earlier," more lives could have been saved, and "no one is going to deny that." He added that the decision-making for implementing mitigation measures was "complicated,” and "there was a lot of pushback about shutting things down back then.
We have had 2 factors going on simultaneously that could have ended the USA; the pandemic and an economic crisis similar to the Crash of 1929 only worse. The government has been trying to keep a balance between the two from happening. When Fauci has given us the facts we need to take to end the virus, it has been viewed as too extreme in view of what would happen to the country economically. We're between the devil and the deep blue sea, so to speak.
Owing to his prominent role in the United States response to numerous global pandemics, most notably HIV/AIDS and COVID-19, Fauci has become the subject of tributes and interpretations across various media, including television, literature, merchandising, and internet memes. Brad Pitt's performance as Fauci during the 2020 season of Saturday Night Live earned the actor an Emmy nomination, and praise from Fauci. Author Sally Quinn has credited Fauci as the inspiration for the love interest to the protagonist in her bestselling 1991 romance novel Happy Endings. Larry Kramer based the character Dr. Anthony Della Vida on Fauci in his play The Destiny of Me.
Due to his disagreements with Trump, Fauci has been criticised by right-wing pundits and received death threats that resulted in the need for a security detail. In an interview with 60 Minutes he mentioned that other members of his family, including his wife and daughters, have been repeatedly harassed since the pandemic begun. This is deplorable! He has 3 daughters.
What the World Health Org. knew about by March 17, 2020 how the flu, which we
get shots for every year already, differs from COVID 19. The speed of transmission is an important point of difference between the two viruses. Influenza has a shorter median incubation period (the time from infection to appearance of symptoms) and a shorter serial interval (the time between successive cases) than COVID-19 virus. The serial interval for COVID-19 virus is estimated to be 5-6 days, while for influenza virus, the serial interval is 3 days. This means that influenza can spread faster than COVID-19.
Further, transmission in the first 3-5 days of illness, or potentially pre-symptomatic transmission –transmission of the virus before the appearance of symptoms – is a major driver of transmission for influenza. In contrast, while we are learning that there are people who can shed COVID-19 virus 24-48 hours prior to symptom onset, at present, this does not appear to be a major driver of transmission.
Mortality for COVID-19 appears higher than for influenza, especially seasonal influenza. While the true mortality of COVID-19 will take some time to fully understand, the data we have so far indicate that the crude mortality ratio (the number of reported deaths divided by the reported cases) is between 3-4%, the infection mortality rate (the number of reported deaths divided by the number of infections) will be lower. For seasonal influenza, mortality is usually well below 0.1%. However, mortality is to a large extent determined by access to and quality of health care.
Those in danger of dying in this pandemic are: They found that 72.9% of those who died with COVID-19 were male, with a median age of 65.8 years and underlying chronic conditions, such as heart problems or diabetes. “The greatest number of deaths in our cohort were in males over 50 with noncommunicable chronic diseases,” the investigators note. “We hope that this study conveys the seriousness of COVID-19 and emphasizes the risk groups of males over 50 with chronic comorbid conditions, ncluding hypertension (high blood pressure), coronary heart disease, and diabetes,” they have commented. The team also notes that, among the 85 patients whose records they analyzed, the most common COVID-19 symptoms were fever, shortness of breath, and fatigue.
According to this information, Donald Trump was very lucky to have had such a mild case. He must have a very strong immune system. One factor making his different than other men in the US; he doesn't drink alcohol. His brother had died from it and scared him enough to know about his possible chances to make him a teetotaler.
Fauci is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Medicine; the American Philosophical Society, and the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters, as well as other numerous professional societies including the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and the American Association of Immunologists. He serves on the editorial boards of many scientific journals, as an editor of Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine, and as author, coauthor, or editor of more than 1,000 scientific publications, including several textbooks. Trump had picked the best possible man for fighting COVID 19 but has not backed him up nor followed his advice.

as much as we do often agree, on this topic i do not. the math simply does not add up here in the states or worldwide. so i don't buy everything fauci says at all. the cdc and w.h.o. have flip flopped a number of times already too. many docs and health professionals, scientists, here and abroad, are refuting what he advocated. and he has been a terrible hypocrite along the way. mask no mask mask again no mask on and on. pictures of his phoniness about wearing masks on top of it too. no distance he said back in feb and then reversed it and flip flopped on that too. personally even he is not even doing what he advocates. i think all is way way overblown. 85% of those who actually got covid were mask wearers! plus the death rate is very very low. the cure has become worse than the problem :( my friend here in town has a gr-aunt who is 91 in a nursing home with copd for years has been on oxygen and she got it, kicked it in 4 days and she should have been a statistic but she is not. 2 friends of mine here in town--one a travelling nurse who is my next door neighbor got it, her son at home with her did not--sick 3 days and did not take anything meds of any kind for it and she said and i quote: like a regular flu..count me among the 99% that lived to tell about it! my other friend said almost the same exact thing. the 4 people who died here where i live had comorbidities--one was dying of stage 4 cancer and one last week was severe copd. fauci is full of it--and politically motivated in my review of this issue since march this year. sick and weak or compromised folks should take extra precaution. everyone else will do ok when they let herd immunity take care of them. i see much hypocrisy everywhere with this whole episode my dear friend..
