The current population of the United States of America is 332,272,677 as of Friday, February 26, 2021, based on Worldometer elaboration of the latest United Nations data.
328.2 million (2019) was the population of the USA. It's increased by 4 million in 2 years despite Covid.
2.3 million people are in prison.
As of 2016, 2.3 million people were incarcerated in the United States, at a rate of 698 people per 100,000. Total US incarceration peaked in 2008. Total correctional population (prison, jail, probation, parole) peaked in 2007. In 2008 the US had around 24.7% of the world's 9.8 million prisoners.
510,205 people Americans have died from COVID 19 so far as of today. At least 2,465 new coronavirus deaths and 77,804 new cases were reported in the United States on Feb. 25. Over the past week, there has been an average of 69,450 cases per day, a decrease of 32 percent from the average two weeks earlier. As of Friday evening, more than 28,506,000 people in the United States have been infected with the coronavirus according to a New York Times database.
2.5 million in the world have died from COVID 19 so far.
More men than women are dying from COVID-19. Why? The data show that COVID-19 case and mortality rates for men and women vary widely among U.S. states. “In some states, the mortality rate among men is almost double the rate among women,” said Rushovich. “In other states, it’s almost equal. That suggests there’s probably other context—social factors, occupational exposures—that are influencing why the rates are varying between men and women, and that it’s not only related only to biological differences.” Facts are incomplete due to differing reporting systems in our states.
CDC estimates that the burden of illness during the 2018–2019 season included an estimated 35.5 million people getting sick with influenza, 16.5 million people going to a health care provider for their illness, 490,600 hospitalizations, and 34,200 deaths from influenza.
Therefore, we have gone from 34,200 to 510,205 deaths from the flu with the 2020-2021 flu being a part of a world pandemic. COVID-19 is caused by a coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. Older adults and people who have severe underlying medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19 illness.
In 2019, about 16.5% of the American population was 65 years old or over; a figure which is expected to reach 22 percent by 2050. This is a significant increase from 1950, when only eight percent of the population was 65 or over.Jan 20, 2021.
Today, the number of children (under age 18) in the United States is at an all-time high of 74.2 million. But, the percentage of the U.S. population who are under 18 is at an all time low of 24%. Based on data from the 2010 census, we find that while there is a small increase in the number of children under 18 in the US, the rate at which that population is growing has slowed dramatically over the past 20 years.
That leaves 60% of our Americans between the ages 19 and 64, our workforce. They're the ones affected economically by COVID 19 the most, the ones the children are dependent on.
Cancer was the second leading cause of death, after heart disease, in the United States in 2019. In 2019, there were 599,601 cancer deaths; 283,725 were among females and 315,876 among males.
The Governor has a schedule to get us all vaccinated quickly. Mother nature is not in compliance.
Multnomah County, Oregon contains the 2 largest cities in Oregon; Portland and Gresham. The Covid 19 vaccine is being held in Portland's Convention Center in NE Portland. I live in Gresham, which is 12 miles from my son's home in Portland in the SE side.
My appointment was yesterday but was canceled due to the snow that we received starting Thursday evening. Today is Monday. It was moved 2 days ahead to tomorrow-Tuesday., As of now, we still have over a foot of snow that has not melted though the temperature has risen. I live in a neighborhood with cul de sacs where the snow has blown in and where cars cannot get out. It's still here; mounds of it, especially behind my car which is in my carport. My snow shovel is still in my shed because the door is sealed by all the snow against it. Who thought on February 8th to take the snow shovel out for a soon-to-happen blizzard of snow?
I'm 86, and we have been scheduled to get our shots with the 75 year old's who were just scheduled also for tomorrow. I'll never make it, however unless a miracle of a strong rain takes place tonight and washes away all this snow.
Snow just starting It is now covering the wheels of a car not under the carport.
All this hurry and never mind what the weathermen were saying. There's going to be a lot of cancellations. This is creating stress within me and I imagine stress with others as well. Like many other seniors, I have my son lined up to drive me to the Convention Center from his home and stay with me in line. I don't want to try to manage all this alone; parking, walking to the distant exit from the parking area below the building or up stairs. His appointment and his wife is on the next day! He'll have to go there again, poor guy. This time the line may be quite long.
I sure wish someone was thinking about us oldsters and didn't expect us to drive to Portland's Convention Center for our shot. That's a good 15 miles away. Lucky us being a part of Multnomah County!
I tried to manage the website for the Convention Center and am getting no place without my son here to help me with it. I can't get into a part that reschedules appointments or even makes them. I'm at the point of becoming hysterical! Hours of working on this and I'm getting no place.
I've checked everywhere in pharmacies about when I can get the vaccine. They are all full up with appointments and a limited amount of vaccine. If there's a cancellation and I call at that moment, I could get in; a thousand to one opportunity.
My son and daughter in law were at the center today getting their 2nd vaccine. I had casually mentioned that they ask about me and how I can reschedule. They did it after their vaccination! I actually spoke with a lady in charge and after a few questions and answers, am scheduled for Sunday! What a miracle! Snow is still on the ground but gradually disappearing. Our 6-7 inches yesterday should be a little lower and the short path Molly and I shoveled that had turned to water is dry this morning.
I have more snow pictures to post here but can't as I don't have an available port for my camera. I'm going to wait on pictures from now on. It was possible before when I had a battery keyboard and mouse. These electric ones are using the ports.
Sure glad that my son asked about me at the Convention Center and they took the time to help him and myself. That is amazing!
Today is February 21 and I left the house at 7am this morning and headed for my son's house 12 miles away so we could go to the Convention Center to get my 1st vaccine for Covid 19. The Convention Cenrer is absolutely huge. I'm glad my son has been there 2 times already for his 1st and 2nd vaccines. I was put in a wheelchair and taken around, finally winding up at the station where a National Guard medic gave me the vaccine. She did it so well I never even felt it. So far, I feel fine. I'm so glad it's over. They even had a station for us to go to where they made the 2nd appointment for me. The organization was wonderful there with plenty of assistants walking us to the different places we needed to go. We had to take one elevator-just us in it, to one floor and then we took another elevator to the next floor. From the wheelchair view, it was awesome! I learned that my son was very smart to get an early morning appointment for me, even though I wound up getting out of bed at 5am. My medic said she was up at 4am. It paid off as there were fewer people in the center early in the morning.
One thing I noticed was that my left arm where I got the shot was hurting so much; the whole arm. I could hardly bend my elbow. I was attributing it to pulling a muscle I hadn't noticed from shoveling because my rib was hurting so much when my son informed me that it was the result of the vaccine. He had had the same experience. He was right. I did notice it only after the vaccine, about 3 hrs later. Dumb me! This morning when I got up, I noticed that I was feeling much better and that my arm was back to normal. Being very careful of my rib, I gingerly picked up my dog off my bed and let her walk with the leash to the porch. No more carrying her and feeling the effects of her 20+ lbs affect. Result is that my side feels better.
I hope there is no problem 3 weeks from now when I need the 2nd vaccine. Thank you National Guard people and whoever organized the whole affair. You did a good job.
9/20/21 Update: I'm getting my 3rd vaccine, a booster on 9/22/21, Wednesday. At 87, with heart problem, this is necessary. I've already had the Shingles vaccines and the yearly flu vaccine. We have to keep up with of them. I never realized what a dangerous environment we are living in.
Update: 9/22/21: My booster for COVID took place at a different Walgreens pharmacy due to only certain ones had the Pfizer and they didn't get the word as to who was eligible for it as soon as it had come out. 65 and over were eligible along with those who were immune deficient for reasons like cancer. After 3 tries, the 3rd was the charm. I got it. We're all learning how this is working.. There were long long lines of people in Texas getting th4ir booster as shown on TV. I can't complain. When I went in the pharmacy there was only one other lady ahead of me and she was getting her flu shot. I was there at about 10:30am after my son had come over and handled the automatic phone response to find out if they were giving the vaccine or not. I had messed that up and didn't get through.
It is, frankly, really weird howThe Epoch Times came to be what it is today. The paper was originally founded in 2000 to promote the interests of an obscure, heavily persecuted Chinese religious group known as “Falun Gong.” Falun Gong is a very conservative religion and many of its teachings seem very backwards to western progressives. For instance, it teaches that homosexuality is inherently immoral. It also teaches that there is a different heaven for each race and that the production of interracial children is indicative of the approaching End of the World.
ABOVE: Portrait of Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong, taken in 1997
Falun Gong is not opposed to modern science per se, but it regards science as a deeply flawed and limited way of understanding the world.Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong, has repeatedly criticized science, portraying scientists as arrogant and blind to the true nature of reality. He has also repeatedly criticized the idea of evolution and has cited pseudoscientific claims about archaeological discoveries supposedly dating back millions of years as evidence that evolution is not real.
Li Hongzhi has also taught that extraterrestrial beings are actively involved in human affairs, that these extraterrestrials can shapeshift to impersonate humans, and that many of the technologies we use today were invented by extraterrestrials as part of an evil plot to take over the world.
Communist China does not approve of these Falun Gong people's ideas. They have found refuge in the USA, but their ideas are bizarre and are causing harm by their new agenda.
As bizarre as their beliefs may seem, Falun Gong practitioners are and were genuinely persecuted in China and have been subjected to ruthless crack-downs. Many have been forced into reeducation programs. The Epoch Times, for most of its history of existence, was mainly focused on bringing attention to the persecution of members of Falun Gong. It rarely ever reported on United States politics and, when it did, it was usually only in cases in which U.S. politics overlapped with Chinese politics.
Trump at his rally in Georgia, a revival of sorts.
All that changed in 2016 when The Epoch Times suddenly became one of the foremost promoters of pro-Trump propaganda. It is still owned by members of Falun Gong and its mission is still to promote the interests of Falun Gong, but its owners have apparently decided (for some reason) that Donald Trump’s interests are aligned with those of Falun Gong, so they have begun to almost fanatically promote him and his agendas.
China cracked down on Falun Gong. "articles critical of Falun Gong began appearing in local-level CCP-controlled media outlets. The Public Security Bureau began monitoring Falun Gong adherents, and Falun Gong books (by this time national best-sellers) were banned from further publication. Although the practice continued to grow, with an estimated 70 million adherents by 1998, the harassment and surveillance of practitioners also escalated.
Police brutality against Falun Gong practitioners in Tiananmen Square.
It is possible that Trump’s anti-China rhetoric is the main reason why The Epoch Times has come to believe his interests are aligned with theirs, since the government of the People’s Republic of China is currently persecuting members of Falun Gong. In any case, whatever the reason for it may be, The Epoch Times is now one of the most devoted pro-Trump publications out there.

Believe it or not, it gets even more bizarre. The Epoch Times is one of several outlets owned by the Epoch Media Group, which promotes all kinds of conspiracy theories and pro-right-wing propaganda. The Epoch Media Group’s massively popular YouTube channel “Edge of Wonder,” which has over 375,000 subscribers, has promoted some of the most absurd conspiracy theories known to man.
"One conspiracy that they have vigorously and repeatedly promoted is QAnon. If you have not heard of QAnon, here is the gist of it: According to supporters of QAnon, the world is secretly ruled by an international cabal of Satan-worshipping pedophiles. These Satan-worshipping pedophiles supposedly include major foreign leaders, all Democratic politicians, all mainstream journalists and new network anchors, and even liberal Hollywood celebrities. The leaders of this cabal supposedly include Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and George Soros." They also practice anti-Semitism.

The YouTube channel “Edge of Wonder,” which is run by the Epoch Media Group has repeatedly promoted the conspiracy theory known as “QAnon,” which claims that Donald Trump is on a secret mission to thwart the secret cabal of Satan-worshipping pedophiles that supposedly rules the world and usher in an era of paradise on Earth.

Supporters of QAnon say that the only one who is intelligent and powerful enough to stop this evil cabal of pedophile Satanists is Donald J. Trump. Supposedly, Trump and his administration are secretly plotting a coup against this evil cabal. Supposedly, the day will come when there will be an event known as “The Storm” when Trump will round up all the members and supporters of the cabal—which, if you recall, supposedly includes thousands of people—and throw them in the Guantanamo Bay prison. Then they say that Trump will usher in paradise on Earth.
If this whole thing sounds familiar, that is probably because it is basically a bizarre, secularized version of the story of the Christian apocalypse in which Donald Trump has replaced Jesus, “The Storm” has replaced the Second Coming and Judgement Day, the Guantanamo Bay prison has replaced Hell, and the Satan-worshipping pedophilic cabal of Democrats, mainstream journalists, and Hollywood celebrities have replaced Satan and his demons.
Another conspiracy theory that the Epoch Media Group has promoted is that all the victims from the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 are secretly still alive, but are working as slaves in an underground facility.
"The Epoch Times is not a credible source of factual information, nor are any of its associated media outlets. They promote pseudoscience and conspiracy theories. Nothing they report can be trusted or taken at face value." One thing I have learned is to ask, "What's your source?" Without a credible source, PREFERABLY MANY SOURCES, it just might be "FAKE NEWS."
