Pressure From Congress's Nancy Pelosi on Pence To Use 25th Amerndment

 Nadene Goldfoot

Trump has stepped over the line.  He instigated his followers to seize the US Capital Building. The most recognized symbol of democratic government in the world, the United States Capitol has housed Congress since 1800. The Capitol is where Congress meets to write the laws of our nation, and where presidents are inaugurated and deliver their annual State of the Union messages.

They obeyed immediately, some even thinking that Trump was with them in the march.  The activists included such people as Q anons and Proud Boys, people who seem to know how to organize and follow through with such acts of destruction.  Someone was seen on TV to pee on the capital floor!  They went into offices bent on destruction and left a mess. It was a first in our history of our own people trying to take over our government building, smashing glass windows and forcing their way in against a small crew of policemen compared to their large numbers, seeming to be in the thousands.  It's now over, ending this morning around 4am in Washington DC with the pronouncement of accepting Biden as the newly elected president to be inaugurated January 20th along with his vice president.

After such an attack with everyone's life on the line and the death of a Q anon woman in the first rush of people who was shot in the neck, Nancy Pelosi expects our Vice President Pence, who held his own against the personal wishes of Trump, following the law of our land and not Trump's wishes, is being pressed to do Nancy's suggestion by invoking the 25th amendment.  I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't.  The man deserves a vacation from all of this.  He probably made a vow to back Trump when he first came on board.  He's just gone through a tongue-lashing from Trump about not changing the vote to suit Trump.  Pence is an honest man.  It was not in his job description to do so.    We have 12 days to go and Trump will be finished.  So will Pence as Vice President.

The Twenty-fifth Amendment (Amendment XXV) to the United States Constitution says that if the President becomes unable to do his job, the Vice President becomes the President. This can happen for just a little while, if the President is just sick or disabled for a short time.

Nancy and others want Trump punished for what he has just done.  This new behavior was madness, beneath his presidential position.  He only has 12 days left in the White House.  I'd be calling the moving van and packing, but Congress is fearful of what else he might pull off.

Other than the 25th amendment, Nancy wants to impeach Trump, something the Democrats tried earlier in his term that failed.  Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for President Donald Trump’s removal.  Both Democrats said the president incited an “insurrection” against the country. Schumer said that if Vice President Mike Pence and the Cabinet do not move to invoke the 25th Amendment, Congress should reconvene to impeach Trump.  Pelosi said Congress “may be prepared” to impeach him if executive branch officials do not act.  Pundits on TV say they have the ability to make it happen quickly this time.  They certainly have good reason now.

Trump became president in 2017 because half the country didn't want a politician as a president.  They wanted someone who would act and not just be all talk.  They got the right man.

He was a man who was most interesting.  I believe he must have had a learning problem as a child, such as ADHD,  in that he found reading was difficult.  He has all the earmarks of a hyper-active problematic child turned adult, I believe as a retired teacher.  He must be very bright, nevertheless, as many children with learning disabilities are, and he managed to become the President of the USA.  it takes more than money to accomplish that feat.    Actually, today, you have to be a little crazy to want to be the president.  It's takes a very special person to be that successful.

He is creative, thinks outside the box, and likes to be the best and needs to be liked.  He has his own personality quirks and that's what has made him who he is.  The story is that his mother could not handle him, and so he was sent away to a cadet academy.  Being from Scotland, she may have been like many English mothers who come from a culture of the upper crust doing such things, having their children schooled in boarding schools.  Or, she just didn't have the knowledge or help in dealing with a difficult child like Donald Trump must have been.

The word out was that he didn't read.  Books were not a part of his life.  I'm not surprised.  I've heard him read on TV, and it was without much feeling, sort of rote.  He had learned to depend on oral reports from close friends of what was found in books.  He developed a sensitive ear to people and made judgement calls that way, instead of finding his own references and reading.  He wrote books of his opinions about business, but used ghost writers to polish up his books or used tapes, somehow getting a book published in his name.

He has been a workaholic, starting immediately on TV after his inauguration.  Later he evidently took breaks at his own golf course, which was good exercise but was criticized for doing so.  He had a hard time finding a period he was not being criticized, something not healthy for a man of his cut of cloth.  He needed praise .  He found very little of it in his own family.

He's even had a close relative, a psychologist, criticize him up and down in a book published July 14, 2020;  and on TV. Mary L Trump, niece of Donald Trump, a clinical psychologist, is the daughter of Fred Trump Jr., and a granddaughter of Fred Trump Sr. ... in 1999, Mary and her brother, Fred III, contested Fred Sr.'s will in probate court, claiming that Fred Sr. was suffering from dementia, and the will was "procured by fraud and undue influence" by Fred Sr.'s other children, DonaldMaryanne, and Robert.   Maryanne has said in tapes that Donald has no principals and you can't trust him. New York City, U.S. Maryanne Trump Barry (born April 5, 1937) is an American attorney and a retired United States federal judge.

Trump visited Israel with his wife.  One of his accomplishments, he did much for Israel and was involved with his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, in bringing in 4 Middle East countries to make peace with Israel.

Since day one, he has been up  against a wall in Washington, that he and his comrades called the swamp,  of not being accepted since everyone expected and was ready for Hillary Clinton to be the president.  His win was a shock, like an electric shock to the whole Washington community.  He had his list of objectives and worked on getting them accomplished.  Impeachment was thrown at him early on.  It was not proven.

                                     Trump in China

I've often said that I couldn't work under such stress and hatred.  I figured he's crack up eventually, but he seemed very strong-willed and kept going;  up until finding out he had lost the race and wouldn't get a 2nd term.  I believe he then cracked.  It's said he wasn't heard from for several weeks afterwards.  His list of appointments and affairs remained blank. He could have been in a state of depression.

What we've all seen on TV makes our heart sick.  If only he could have been like all the other presidents of one term and just gracefully bowed out and found other things to do.  Donald was shaken with his loss and was possibly getting even.  He managed to damage the reputation he had gained of all the good things he had accomplished and is leaving with one horrid one now of bringing on an insurrection on his own government.   What he has to look forward to is a lot of suits already in the planning.

Trump must have been surrounded by family and friends including his lawyer who fed him the idea that he could use force, which is very sad.  He was dependent on these people for his thoughts and acts and this was the worst they'd ever come up with.  Of course it suited his own mind now, too, wanting revenge, I imagine.  It finally came to an advisor to get him to concede that he had lost.  Too bad that advisor didn't catch him earlier before all this destruction.

Donald and Melania, his wife, at his own inauguration. Hillary Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, was present at the Capitol for the inauguration of her former election rival, President-elect Donald Trump.  It's customary for former presidents and first ladies to attend the inauguration of a new president. Clinton honored that tradition, arriving with her husband, former President Bill Clinton.
